Pressure Pass Channel
Catch and pass in one motion under time pressure while running.
- Time
- 12 minutes
- Players
- 9 to 18 players
- Intensity
- High
- Equipment
- Ball, cones
- Space
- 10m x 22m grid
- Positions
- All positions
Setup
A 10m x 22m grid with two feeding groups facing each other 10-15m apart, and a third working group. Up to six balls.
How to run it
- The first player from the working group jogs down between the two feeding groups, receiving a pass from one side and immediately passing on to the player opposite, all the way down the channel.
- When they reach the end, the next worker goes, and finished players run around the outside to rejoin the back of the queue.
- Feeders must pass in front of the receiver so they can take it moving forward, and the worker must run straight rather than slowing to catch.
- Demand accuracy - a bad feed makes the drill pointless.
- Run for 8 minutes.
Coaching cues
- Pass in front of the receiver, never at them
- Worker runs straight and never slows to catch
- Demand accuracy from the feeders
Common mistakes
- The working player slowing down to make the catch, which removes all the pressure
- Feeders passing at the runner rather than into the space ahead
