Passing drill
Moving Pair Pass
Fix the weak-side pass by forcing you to give and take the ball on both sides while moving.
- Time
- 12 minutes
- Players
- 2 to 6 players
- Intensity
- Medium
- Equipment
- Ball
- Space
- 15m x 15m grid
- Positions
- All positions
Setup
A 15m x 15m grid and one ball, with a partner.
How to run it
- Run around the grid passing the ball backwards and forwards to each other continuously.
- The whole point is that you must receive the ball on both sides of your body, so deliberately switch which side of your partner you are running on every set rather than settling into your comfortable side.
- Carry the ball in two hands at about chest height with your fingers spread on each side of it, and keep your chin up watching the ball rather than looking down.
- Do 4 rounds of 90 seconds with a short walk between.
Coaching cues
- Two hands, chest height, fingers spread
- Hands out at chin height ready to receive
- Swap sides deliberately every round
Common mistakes
- Both players drifting so every pass comes to the same side
- Letting the ball drop below waist height between passes
