Setup
One ball and a partner. Start 5m apart on open grass, extending to 10-15m.
How to run it
- Catch in two hands and turn the ball longways with your fingers across the seam, its long axis at about 30 degrees to the ground.
- Passing to your right, your left hand gives the power and puts the spin on while your right hand only steadies and aims it - reverse that passing left.
- Follow through towards your partner with your fingers pointing at them.
- Do 6 sets of 10, three each direction, moving 2-3m further apart every second set.
Coaching cues
- Back hand spins it, front hand aims it
- Fingers across the seam, ball at 30 degrees
- Follow through towards the receiver
Common mistakes
- Using the bottom hand to spin the ball, which kills both distance and accuracy
- No follow-through, so the pass dies halfway
