- Intensity
- High

- Ball, cones
- Space
- 30m x 20m

- All positions
Setup
A marked landing zone 25-30m downfield, cones for a chase line, one ball. Three to eight players.
How to run it
- One player kicks a high ball into the landing zone and the chasers set off from behind the kicker - anyone in front of the kicker at the moment of contact is offside, which kills more chases than any technical fault.
- The chasers work as a line, staying connected rather than racing individually, and the lead chaser calls for the contest while the others fill inside and outside.
- The measure of success is simple: did the chase arrive as the ball landed?
- If not, the kick was too long or the chase was too slow, and you need to know which.
- Do 10 reps, rotating the kicker.
Coaching cues
- Nobody in front of the kicker at contact
- Chase as a connected line, not as individuals
- Arrive as the ball arrives
Common mistakes
- Chasers straying offside in their eagerness, which wastes the whole kick
- Racing individually so the fastest chaser arrives alone and gets cleaned up
